My name is Elizabeth Houston. I am a proud mother two little boys, 5 and 2 year old. This is my 8th year teaching at Lincoln Middle School, but my 14th year with the district.
Here is a copy of my Why Statement:
Looking back at my childhood, I wouldn’t say the learning part of school was my favorite. I loved being there for the social interaction, but I just wasn’t one of those kids who caught on immediately to new information. But after having two amazing teachers, who taught unlike anyone else, I was able to soar academically. Because of them, I chose teaching as my career. I started college wanting to be a general education teacher and help students who were falling behind. But after a college placement, where I was placed in a self-contained pre-school special education classroom, my whole outlook on the teacher I wanted to become changed. I absolutely loved working with the students and figuring out ways to teach that worked best. Now the paperwork is another beast, but honestly I wouldn’t have it any way. I love my job and my kiddos.
What I love about Lincoln Middle School is that the staff are accommodating to all students. I am thankful God has placed me at Lincoln, where I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students with different backgrounds, learning styles, and future goals.
